DEATH

"Death is nothing, I have only passed into the next room. I am me, you are you. What we are to one another we remain. "St. Augustine of Hippo

Christianity is a religion by excellence that gives meaning to life and death, that gives meaning to pain and suffering. Thanks to the Resurrection Christians celebrate that life overcomes death, that forgiveness overcomes sin, that light overcomes darkness, that life overcomes evil. Christianity gives meaning to life and to death, because we come from God’s Love, we live to love, and we die to be Resurrected and return to God the Father. Death can be a liberation from a life of suffering and because of that it can be the entrance door to a better life. For those who have faith death should be a motive for hope and joy. It is the path of true life; it is a second and authentic birth.

Without the Resurrection, the cross has no meaning. Pain and suffering would be useless. Without the Resurrection the Church would have no meaning either. For the Christian death is the door of complete union with God. Death is the point where LA VIDA and ETERNAL LIFE converge, like a river that seeks the ocean. Death for this reason is also the door of union with loved ones that have died.

To be a Christian supposes a quiet and resigned acceptance of death as the culmination of life. Death is our entrance door to our life and ETERNAL LIFE IN GOD in full communion with God. By death, life on earth converts into LIFE ETERNAL in God. On the other hand, ETRRNAL DEATH is a place not created by God, but a condition man elects if he refuses Love: far away from God and absolute solitude.

"This day that you fear so much for being the last, is the dawn of the day eternal".  Seneca

Referring to death, "Who could claim that a eternity of joy can compensate for a moment of human pain?  Albert Camus
