THE FIRE
"The life of faith does not consist in understanding everything because reason is limited and God's wisdom is infinite." St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer
The Biblical significance of fire is related with all that is renewed, that is purified, that which constitutes a new era or life. The Glory of God is accompanied by fire. Fire is seen as an element that removes and destroys all evil, purifies and cleanses the soul.
It is an element used to symbolize the way in which we should atone for our faults. In this sense, fire is a destructor but also a purifier and scorcher. Fire is a mediator between nature and culture but also between Heaven and Earth, between Man and God, between LIFE and ETERNAL LIFE. Before we enter and form part of the ETERNAL LIFE of God, we should purify ourselves of our sins and cleanse our soul.
"Without a higher idea neither a man nor a nation can subsist. And there is only one higher idea in this world, it is that of the immortality of the human soul. All other ideas that man can live by arise from it". Dostoyevski
