Beliefs and values transcend us, and they make us transcend because they outlast our existence. The family, education and culture of a society are elements of transmission of values that modify a feeling or our personal and collective existence.

Beliefs reach their effectiveness in history through people when individuals convert material reality inside of history. Eternal values and beliefs exist, freedom, equality and justice are values that by excellence have marked the becoming of the personal stories of individuals and collectives of societies. But if there is a powerful value in excellence it is FREEDOM. Personal stories or the stories of societies are marked by the fight for freedom. These values transcend history because they are transmitted from generation to generation and because they are innate to human beings. The Church is the institution with the depository values on which the foundation of our occidental world is based: faith in personal salvation, in freedom, in social justice, in equality and solidarity.
