THE BLOOD
"In the cross of Christ, not only has redemption through suffering been accomplished, but human suffering itself has been redeemed". St. John Paul II
Saint Matthew describes the passion and death of Jesus as a baptism in blood, blood that was shed to save Humanity. Blood shed on the cross is a sign of life and salvation. The blood is shared, it is a sign of surrender and love, with the blood, you redeem sin. Giving blood is giving life. Jesus gave His life to give life to Humanity. Giving blood teaches us unconditional love of God the Father. The Baptism of Blood also refers to shed blood, to lose your life in the name of Christ. The History of the Church is the history of men and women who have surrendered their lives and died for their faith in Christ.
Christianity is by excellence the religion that gives a response and meaning to pain, to death and the suffering of man. Without death and pain there is no resurrection. By the Resurrection Jesus gives a new meaning to pain, to death and suffering, that cannot be since then the last word of reality. Without the cross there is no resurrection, and without the resurrection there is no Eternal Life. The cross is blood that is shed to give life, ETERNAL LIFE, LIFE IN GOD.
